Question PDA Defense Pro and the Treo 650

Has anyone tried using PDA Defense Pro on a Treo 650? If so, which version did you install - the Palm Os 5 one or the Treo 600 one?

I installed the 600 version - it has a few qwerks, in particular it seems that it does now recognize that I'm working on the unit and it goes and locks it on me...but not all the time. Other than that it works as expected.

I have emailed the developers over a week ago and no response yet.

You want the 600 version because it has a button on th elock-out screen to allow you to make a call while locked.

    Angry AAAAH!

Ok, so I tried the above.

    DON'T DO THIS.

I've got a Verizon Treo 650 that has been working beautifully. I downloaded the latest version (3.1d) of PDA Defense and installed the Treo 600 app.

At the end of the install, the Palm resets, which is normal.

And resets. And resets. And resets.

    This is not normal.

Doing a reset with the up button held doesn't fix.
    Doing a hard-reset-but-reset-out doesn't fix.
    Pulling the battery doesn't fix.

    This is not good.

I then performed a hard reset. Thankfully I performed a clean backup with AdvBackup before trying this.

Attempting to restore the backup causes the Palm to reset.

    This is really not good.

I was able to restore from my PC, but a lot of preferences and settings are gone.

In short: do not install PDA Defense on a Verizon Treo. You will regret it.

Thats odd as I have been using it on the Treo 650 from Cingular with only the quirks I mentioned above.

Perhaps there is another app that is conflicting with it?

I emailed their tech support and got the following:

"The issue is the OS changes made to the Treo 650. Our version of PDA Defense for the 600 has some stability
issues on the 650. Most users report the device cycling through resets until the device is hard reset back
to factory settings. We do not recommend you load the current version 3.1d SP1 on your device."

They claim to be working on a new version which they hope will be available "soon".
