Adding 1 Automatically to Long Distance

I am two weeks new to the Treo 650 with 3+ years of 7135 behind me.

I am from Los Angeles (Verizon) and Roam to Canada quite often. While in Canada, when I try to reply to the Call Log, Telus refuses the call because all numbers need a 1 before the area code and the caller ID never shows a 1.

I don't have this problem at home for some reason, even though the caller ID and the call log both don't show a 1 in front of the area code.

My 7135 had a dialing preference to automatically add a number to all long distance numbers. I had this set and I roamed and replied to calls in Canada and the US easily.

Another forum member here, on a thread that has disappeared for some reason, suggested that there was a "Dial Preferences" menu on the main menu that my phone does not seem to have. He did say he was with Sprint, but I can't imagine that part being any different than Verizon/

    I have:

    General Preferences
    Sound Preferences
    Phone Preferences

None of these items contain anything about adding numbers to long distance.

    Can anyone help?

On the Sprint 650, its under "Dial Preferences", which is under the same drop-down menu for those other preferences you mentioned. Don't know if that option is available on the Verizon 650.

Isn't there a Verzon Treo owner out there that can look and see if they have Dial Preferences on their phone. I sure don't have it on mine.

1.03 was just released on the 19th, IIRC...

Thanks everyone for the responses. I guess us Verizon people can't force 1 any longer...

I think TakePhone allows you to do it.
