    Yahoo! Messenger?

I remember when I bought either my 6035 or 7135 (6035, I think), it came with their little "Mobile web" setup software, which included a Yahoo! IM client for Palm.

I never really used it, because the phone had to be tied up with a 'net connection and counting off MOU, but now that I'm on the all-you-can-eat data plan and the phone's basically always online, I can actually make use of it.

Of course, if you go to Yahoo! now and check out their IM offerings for this phone, there's no native PalmOS client and all they have is some sort of web-based messaging. Lame.

Does anyone know of/remember the Yahoo! client I'm talking about? If so, has anyone actually tried it on the 650? I'm thinking about digging it up and giving it a try, but if it's been tried already and it doesn't work, it would save me a lot of hassle to find that out before I bothered...

    Thanks

Take a look at the following article for an overview of the IM applications that are available.

I've seen verichat, webmessenger and mundu, the latter being the only one that doesn't have an ongoing subscription fee. I tried mundu yesterday and for whatever reason, it wouldn't let my Treo go to sleep, which killed the battery very quickly.

I'd pay a reasonable fee for the software, but I'm not willing to pay any ongoing subscription fee. Having IM on a phone just isn't that important to me, but if I can do it for free/cheap without killing the battery, I'd do it.

I also found out that the previous PalmOS Yahoo! clients no longer work with their network (haven't for a couple of years), so I guess I'm out of luck. I may give mundu another try someday - I like the idea that it still operates in the background, so it may be worth trying to massage it into working properly.

You dont need a special 3rd party program it goes directly to a text message from you PC Yahoo Messenger - You pick from the drop down menu on your Yahoo Messenger to sign into your phone number. Once this is established everyone your friend who think that they are chating with you on line will be chating with you thru text messenging on your phone!

I currently use Mundu and it works well... I prefer it because it's a one time fee. IM is not all that important to me, so I always log out of it when I'm done. Verichat is fairly good, but for some reason i didn't like it.

Still using the Agile Messenger for Palm. It's a no-frills one that is still free. Don't think it sleeps or does anything other than login. chat. and exit. No smileys. Nothing. Figured I'd use it until it's not free. Then I'll look at Mundu. Why pay a yearly fee to anyother vendor?? It is VERY fast! Almost instant delivery like u get on a PC.

Hey Pianoman, how did you get it registered? Did you pay for it, or did you get a new Keygen.
I kind of have the same prob. want to use the paid version, but uninstalled the app with the Keygen and now I think it saved something in the Phone with the the Keygen registration number.

When you purchase the app do they issue a registration and license number, or only one of those numbers?

For a one time of $11 Mundu IV may be worth it. I just installed the trial. Seems it must run on the phone tho. Despite the fact installer was transferred to the card. I like the fact that the program displays the messages just like the chat screen on my desktop. Rather having to check for msgs with the default/portal links to YIM.
