    SD Cards

I remember reading somewhere that there is a limit on the size of the SD card that a Treo 650 can handle...is it 1GB or 2? Thank you.

According to a post in another thread from someone who claimed to be from Palm, the limit is 2GB. Has to do witn the FAT16 file system.

Everything I read on the forums seems to point to 2gb being the limit. I just plugged a new "hi-speed" 2gb card into my Treo, and according to the Treo's Card Info application only 1.8gb is available. The same card plugged into my desktop shows the full 2gb available.

    Either the Treo or the desktop is probably using the "lazy" definition of 1 GB (i.e. 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 1000000000 bytes = 1 GB). The real definition of 1 GB is 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes.

    2,000,000,000 / 1,073,741,824 = 1.86 (rounded).

I prefer a more elegant method of calculating memory capacity - I fill it 'til it won't take any more. Then I buy another card.
