and the best password manager is....

Looking for advice: What is the best password manager available for the treo/palm, and how secure is it. If you use this, do you then need a lock to get into the palm. I don't want to have to type something everytime I take my treo out to make a call or just check the time.

I use Ultrasoft Datashield. Pretty nice and it has a PC based app as well that you can enter info into, so you are not always typing on the handheld.

exactly how vetted are these password managers? do they release their algorithms to be beat-upon for viability and reliability? are the sync mechanisms (that's where i'd attack it) truly secure and impenetrable?

    I like SplashID
It comes with a desktop app, which makes entering text alot easier.

The splashid.prc file is actually free.

My votes for Splash ID _ biggest bene is the desktop. I use it everyday and with their automatic copy icon it's a breeze to use. I also have my home network setup so I can access the database of passwords, etc. from any PC (you have to install the Palm Desktop to do this)

I use YAPS. Free and pretty easy. Doesn't recognize Treo's navigation button, but otherwise it works just fine.
