Question treo 650 EVDO may 2006?

I just saw an article on www.pdabuzz.com stating that the VW 650 will be EVDO capable in may 2006. Does anyone know if this will be a software update to allow EVDO, or would you have to get a new 650 with special hardware? just debating whether to get one now or wait for EVDO.

    Thanks,
    JohnA

Sorry for my ignorance but what does EVDO mean?

I think it stands for Evolution Data Optimized. From what I understand it's basically broadband access speeds for wireless devices

I would assume they are talking about something like a Treo700P, as opposed to the Treo700W.

This would mean that the Treo650 is NOT going to EVDO, if true.

The article worded it poorly or they didn't quite understand. its the 700P that will be the "treo 650 refresh," its simply not a 650 with updated software. BTW, it is not possible to add EV-DO support to the existing 650s via a software/firmware update. EV-DO support requires a physical EV-DO radio in the phone itself.
