Java Applets on a Treo 650?

Does anyone know if there is a browser/JVM combination that will allow java applets inside of web pages to execute on a Treo 650? I know the JVM would have to be pretty big, but that's what SD cards are for, right?

    Thanks.

There is a JVM for running java applications, but it doesn't support java applets in any of the available browsers.

The fundamental problem is that Applets require a different version of Java (Standard Edition, rather than the Mobile Edition found on PDAs and smartphones).

Since Mobile Edition is mostly a subset of Standard Edition, there is no fundamental reason why an implementation of Java could not support both, but don't expect it on handhelds in the next few years. (You can add libraries to Standard Edition on desktops so they can run Midlets (a particular form of Mobile Edition programs).)
