A TTY (Text Telephone) device or TTD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) is a special text telephone for those with hearing, speech, and some motor disabilities. Currently, 911 emergency services cannot be used reliably with a TTY device connected to the Treo communicator. While the wireless industry and equipment manufacturers work to resolve compatibility issues, the Federal Communications Commission requires that customers be notified about this existing limitation.
